During the first round NBA playoff game between the Sacramento Kings and the Golden State Warriors in April of 2023, a kid seated in the front row of the Golden 1 Center trolled Steph Curry after Curry had committed a foul against Kings guard and star De'Aaron Fox. Gesturing with his fingers to make a 4 and 0, and then patting the top of his head, the fan taunted Curry by shouting "He has 40. 40 on your f*cking head", which was caught on camera during the national broadcast. This was in reference to the fact that Kings star Fox had scored 38 points against the Warriors in his first ever playoff game, and was ostensibly en route to scoring 40 points. Amusingly, he was seated beside Warriors' majority owner Joe Lacob. The video clip subsequently went viral on Twittter after Rob Perez posted the clip, which ended up garnering over 15 million views and 110K likes. It also appeared on ESPN and Sportscenter, and received social media responses on Instagram from Steph's mom and his sponsor Under Armour. When the Kings went up 2 games to 0 the next game, the pic was altered to show the kid instead holding up two fingers to signify the shock occurrence of the Warriors losing the first two games of a playoff series ever in the Curry/Thompson era. The meme helped further popularize the basketball catchphrase "40 on your head", which is when an opposing player scores a high number of points on you in a humiliating fashion.
