For Me Challenge is a trend in which friends or family members quickly list off the other's faults using the statement "It's the X for me." The roast challenge became popular on TikTok in late July 2020 after one video of two women insulting each other while sitting in a car went viral on the platform.

Origin

On July 27th, 2020, TikToker .itsjon uploaded the earliest known video of friends insulting each other using the format "it's the X for me" (shown below). The video gained over 1,900 likes in two weeks.

Spread

On July 27th, 2020, TikToker emmaangelx uploaded a video where she insults herself using the For Me Challenge (shown below, left). The video accumulated over 1,000 likes in two weeks. On July 30th, TikToker 2milandwedip uploaded the earliest viral version that acquired over 743,600 likes in 11 days (shown below, center). The next day, TikToker jaredw.geer uploaded another popular example that received over 335,500 likes in 10 days (shown below, right). StayHipp[1] published an article on the trend.
