NekoChan or the Telegram Cat Girl is a series of 27 GIFs of a cat girl with pink hair and a white body that were made available as animated Telegram stickers as early as June 2023. In January 2025, the stickers went viral on X / Twitter alongside another set of stickers known as the Lovehound, inspiring fan art and memes about the character.

Origin

On June 3rd, 2023, a pack of 27 animated stickers for Telegram named "NekoChan," with the ID "NekoWaifu," was added to Chpic.sui^[1] The sticker pack was installed over 2,700 times in January 2025. The stickers depict a pink-haired cat girl doing a variety of actions, including crying, blowing a kiss, getting spanked and rolling on the floor.

Spread

On January 25th, 2025, X^[2] user @pawliftt posted one of the NekoChan GIFs, in which she rolls on the floor and paws towards the screen, garnering over 51,000 likes and 5,000 reposts in three days. Some commenters noted the similarities between NekoChan and the "Lovehound," another set of Telegram stickers going viral at the time.

Later that day, X^[3] user @KellytoyDK quote-reposted the user, sharing the spanking GIF, writing, "y'all ain't even hip yet," garnering over 52,000 likes in the same span of time.

On January 26th, X^[4] user @ANNI3_SE4L posted, "WHYS THERE SO MANY WEIRD TELEGRAM STICKERS" in response to a GIF of the character with a phallic shadow waving over her face, garnering over 60,000 likes in two days. On January 27th, X^[5] user @OceanManEX posted a version of the put a shirt on / empowering meme using the Lovehound and NekoChan, writing, "my observations over the past 2 days," garnering over 82,000 likes in a day.

Later that day, X^[6] user @jiansketch posted a piece of fan art depicting the Lovehound reacting with shock to NekoChan, laying on her back, garnering over 4,100 likes in a day.
