Free Art Copypasta, also known as You Have Made A Massive Mistake, refers to a copypasta born from a Twitter Direct Message (DM) conversation where an anonymous user asked a Twitter artist if they could have a collage made for them for free. After being denied, the user resorted to sending a verbose threat. After the DMs got leaked, many users began mocking the threat, using it as a joke response to relatively harmless situations.

Origin

On November 19th, 2017, Twitter user MamaMolidae^[1] tweeted out DMs she had received from an anonymous user with the caption "These are probably the worst "make me art" messages I have ever gotten" (pictured below). Under 24 hours later, the tweet has over 15,000 retweets and 35,000 favorites.

The last message, which formed the the copypasta, reads:

"You have made a massive mistake. Doing this for me would have made you a symbol in the world of intellect and literature. It is so typical for someone like you to forget this. It is so typical for someone like you to use abbreviated words. I was prepared to open your world to my knowledge and share my stories and art, with you. You will forever regret the choice you just made, so I will offer to let you do this project again. If you do not, you will have to face the consequences."

Shortly after being tweeted out, many people started quoting the copypasta, applying it to various mundane situations. Twitter user @mikarachey^[2] uploaded the copypasta in reference to a professor not giving extra credit, gaining over 5 retweets and 20 likes (shown below, left). Twitter user @soutejin^[3] applied the copypasta to a JRPG boss, gaining 3 retweets and 14 likes. In the course of a day, the copypasta was posted dozens of times on Twitter. It was also uploaded to /r/copypasta^[4] on November 20th.
