The linking of reactionary girl scout pictures began May 28, 2011 at 3:58pm Central. The first picture link stated "Big News Girl Scout Cookies." It started as a targeted action against a solitary Facebook figure, Neil Aguilar, and grew as his friends and coworkers began to embrace it. The pictures often have little to nothing to do with the post they follow, but seem to be better suited when they relate. For example, a post discussing "doing things together" followed by a picture of two girl scouts carrying a bucket of water. The pictures are often accompanied by the now obligatory sarcastic comment or tag line, and may be edited to better fit the situation.
Since its inception, Neil has been added to photos of girl scouts, as well as had them added to his pictures. The most notable of these pictures is of Neil at the Dallas Comic Con with Darth Vader and an editted in shirt stating, "I run a Girl Scout Troop. I also have a full time job, a Family, and a Life. Beat that!"
Comments and responses without actual pictures have begun to crop up as people posting mention, "needs more girl scouts," "not enough girl scouts," or even, "we should be scouting."
