Might be important to note why Chrome uses up so much RAM.

Unlike other browsers, Chrome runs each open tab in each window as a separate process, rather than running every window and tab under a single one. Because of this, Chrome is able to keep itself from crashing should a problem occur with one given tab; you instead get that "oops" error page with the dead folder icon. However, this unorthodox method also requires a lot more RAM compared to the conventional method of running the entire browser under a single process, as the computer has to work with a much higher number of programs running at once.

Thus, the very thing that gives Chrome a performance advantage over other browsers is also what gives it its greatest drawback.
