About

"Got a job 🔥🔥🔥" meme, sometimes written as "Just got a new job" is an internet meme that originated in 2022 by Twitter user '@BlueHelvetical'. The background image shows a person holding a piece of paper and a card with the 'SCP' logo and text written on it, referring to the web-based collaborative fiction project 'SCP Foundation'. A big text "Got a job 🔥🔥🔥" is also overlayed on the image.

Origins

The Twitter user '@BlueHelvetical' (known as Everest) had redacted the name written on the paper, a classic SCP 'privacy protocol' often seen on the internet, before sending it on Twitter (now called X) with the caption "They wont give a shit about me so I guess I'll get going.". The picture had been blurred with Gaussian blur to add a low-resolution look. Everest also claimed that the paper and card are written all by hand, even the logo is drawn with black pen due to him running out of printer ink to print anything.

The lore behind the Level 4 card was that the financially struggling 'computer engineer' (the POV) had been dumped from his original work, thus applying for work at the agency, not knowing the nature of SCP and the job applications. The person then got hired, with immediate effect Level 4 security access card, thanks to him passing the integrity test and due to his computing skills that required bigger access to servers and computer terminals. Having been given to work directly under the agency and to lead as a technical director, the person, however, still had no idea what they were dealing with.

Spread

Upon uploading the small gag to Twitter, internet users began reposting the image on iFunny, Reddit and other social platforms, though without credits. Unknown users also edited the photo to lower the quality and resolution, in addition to cropping and adding the text "Got a job 🔥🔥🔥" onto it. SCP community people were quick to understand the meme right away.

The meme began to peak in Late 2023, with several meme accounts on Twitter posting the meme over and over again, gaining tens of thousands of likes and reposts. The meme has also been recreated several times by internet users on Reddit and TikTok, using their own version of template, document paper and access card.

Notable Re-creation

TikTok user '@tyrecordslol' recreated the meme, gaining more than 443k likes. Another TikTok video related to the meme also gained more than 600k likes. There are also several recreated memes on r/SCPMemes in Reddit, gaining notability among the fandom. The legacy of the meme is continued by any means of applying for a dangerous job without knowing the nature of it, notable versions include Five Night at Freddy's and so on.
