About
Grummz Activision Blizzard Breast Milk Thief Rumor refers to a Twitter / X rumor involving internet users who jokingly accuse anti-woke poster and video game executive Mark Kern, aka @Grummz, of being the person responsible for stealing breast milk stored by nursing mothers in the Activision Blizzard office fridges — a story that initially spread amid the 2021 lawsuit surrounding the company. The purported theft of breast milk from communal fridges at Activision Blizzard was noted by then-nursing mother and X user @skrutsick in late 2021, with X users @WashYourCrack and @airbagged then starting a rumor that Grummz was the milk thief in August 2024. As the accusation spread, X users commented "Grummz" under breast milk-related posts and drew chibi art depicting him as a milk enjoyer in 2024, even as Grummz insisted that he left Blizzard in 2005, long before the accusations of theft arose.
Origin
Activision Blizzard Breast Milk Theft
On December 8th, 2021, X[1] user and former Activision Blizzard employee Stephanie Krutzik (@skrutsick) posted a tweet thread recounting her experience of allegedly having her breast milk stolen from communal office fridges, where they were stored in lieu of other options available to her as a working and nursing mother.
Grummz Rumor
Grummz is a video game developer known for founding Red 5 Studios and working at Blizzard Entertainment between 1997 and 2005. On his X (formerly Twitter) account, he notes his work as a team lead on the "OG" World of Warcraft and as a producer on Diablo 2.
In the early 2020s, Grummz came to be known among many online for his right-wing views, lending his support to Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump in May 2024[3] and criticizing video game developers for encouraging DEI hiring practices, as well as starting the "#FreeStellarBlade" campaign that aimed to remove patches to the game that supposedly gave its female lead more modest outfits.
On August 11th, 2024, X[4] user @WashYourCrack quoted a post about breast milk being stolen by Activision Blizzard employees and posted an image showing artwork of a chibi version of Mark Kern with a milk mustache and glass of milk in his hand with an office-like kitchen in the background. The post gathered over 100 likes in three weeks.
On August 15th, 2024, X[2] user @airbagged posted a tweet that read, "As part of the Firefall Dev Team (only members were given this shirt), I can confirm that Grummz aka Mark Kern was in fact the breast milk thief at his former employer, Blizzard." The user posted an image of them wearing Red 5 merchandise with the FireFall logo on it alongside the tweet.
Spread
Mark Kern, or @Grummz on X, made a post[5] on August 15th, 2024, responding to @airbagged in an attempt to discredit his claim about Grummz being responsible for milk theft. Grummz wrote that he left Blizzard in 2005 and that @airbagged was never involved in the development of the MMO FireFall. Notably, Grummz subsequently deleted the post (archived screenshots seen below).
On September 3rd, 2024, The Onion[6] posted a satirical article titled, "HR Clarifies That Any Breast Milk Pumped On Company Time Must Go Directly To CEO," gathering over 1,000 likes in a day. The post received several hundred responses from people writing, "Grummz," in reference to the rumor that Mark Kern is responsible for the theft of breast milk from Activision Blizzard communal fridges.
