Guys Look A Birdie is an exploitable meme format taken from a scene in the cartoon Teen Titans GO! where Cyborg points out the window at a bird followed by him and Robin running towards it, crashing into the window. The scene became the subject of edits and redraws on YouTube and TikTok in early 2022.

Origin

On March 5th, 2014, season one episode 43 of Teen Titans GO! aired, titled "Brain Food."[1] In one scene, Cyborg points out the window at a bird and says, "Guys look, a birdie." Robin responds, "It's pretty, let's catch it," and the two run toward it, hitting the window and falling over. The scene was uploaded to YouTube[2] on December 22nd, 2021, gaining over 179,000 views in five months (shown below).



Spread

In 2022, YouTubers began posting edits and redraws of the scene. On January 21st, 2022, YouTuber[3] Bambi posted a sped-up version of the scene, gaining over 20,000 views in four months. On January 26th, TikToker[4] @_highfructosecornsyrup posted an edit of the scene referencing Genshin Impact, gaining over 250,000 views in four months (shown below).

On February 21st, YouTuber[5] northam inc posted a version of the clip replacing the bird with Dee Dee from Dexter's Laboratory, gaining over 20,000 views in three months (shown below, left). On the same day, YouTuber[6] Sunnie64 posted an edit redrawing the animation with Sonic the Hedgehog characters, gaining over 20,500 views in the same span of time (shown below, right).



On April 28th, YouTuber MrGeode6939 posted a 21st Century Humor version of the meme, gaining over 2.4 million views in just under a month (shown below).



On May 11th, YouTuber[7] Pulridz posted an All Endings edit of the scene, gaining over 22,000 views in a day (shown below). On May 12th, TikToker[8] @dandaminifig posted a reanimated version of the clip, gaining over 65,000 views in under a day.
