Hai Yorokonde (Japanese: はいよろこんで, lit. With Pleasure) is a Japanese song by Kento Sugao (菅生健人), known as the stage name Kocchi no Kento (こっちの健人). The music video of the song gained popular on Twitter / X in June 2024 as its morse code part became fodder for parodies and remixes.

Origin

On May 27th, 2024, Sugao's official YouTube channel uploaded the music video for song titled "Hai Yorokonde".[1] In the music video, there's a scene of morse code which translate as "SOS". The video received more than 15 million views in one month (shown below).



On June 24th, 2024, Twitter / X[2] user @ippan_nikochu uploaded an edit of the video, making it a Rickroll. The post received 15,000 reposts and 83,000 likes in one week (shown below).



Spread

Starting in late June 2024, the video became a popular source of bait-and-switch memes on Twitter / X. For example, on June 24th, 2024, Twitter / X[4] user @RumiaS7K uploaded an edit that added Get Stick Bugged Lol. The post received more than 16,000 reposts and 94,000 likes in one week (shown below, top). On June 26th, 2024, Twitter / X[4] user @zeifurryart uploaded an edit that added the Chipi Chipi Chapa Chapa cat. The post received more than 1,600 reposts and 5,500 likes in one week (shown below, bottom).



On June 28th, 2024, Twitter / X[5] user @yukkuriRAYz_Ch uploaded an edit that added other bait-and-switch memes such as Rickroll, Get Stick Bugged Lol, Ayuwoki, and IndiHome Paket Phoenix. The post received more than 10,000 reposts and 52,000 likes in three days (shown below, top). On the same day, Twitter / X[6] user @wildcard_Enjoy uploaded a Bad Apple!! edit that received more than 20,000 reposts and 80,000 likes in three days (shown below, bottom).
