About
How Do You Serve Cunt in An X Way is a phrasal template and catchphrase that circulated on Twitter and other sites in the spring of 2023, often accompanied by a picture of a character who seems to "serve cunt" in the way indicated. Branching off from previous memes about "serving cunt," which is a slang expression originating within drag culture, these memes often make reference to sexually attractive or otherwise notable fictional characters or real people. Often, the "X way" makes reference to a subculture, internet niche or specific piece of media.
Origin
The phrase "serving cunt" originates in drag culture and has been featured in past memes including She Lived She Served Cunt Then She Died. [3]
The viral tweet that kicked off the "How Do You Serve Cunt in An X Way" catchphrase was first posted by Twitter user @Sunfl0wersailor on April 17th, 2023, and received over 10,000 likes and nearly 9,000 quote-tweets over the course of a month.[1] This viral tweet asked, "How do you serve cunt in a god honoring way?" (shown below).
In quote tweets to the original tweet on April 17th, users answered the question with images of characters and personalities over the following days. For example, Twitter user @mayjailer0621 posted a photograph alongside the phrase on April 30th, earning over 550 likes in three weeks (seen below).[7]
Spread
In the weeks that followed, users on Twitter discussed other ways of "serving cunt" that were not explicitly "god-honoring." For example, on May 12th, 2023, Twitter user @alex_abads inquired about another way to do it (seen below, left) receiving almost 5,000 likes in a week,[2] as did user @MadMarx37, who received over 30 likes (seen below, right) on May 15th, 2023.[6]
By mid-May 2023, the meme was purportedly so widespread on Twitter that some expressed disgust at seeing it so frequently. For example, on May 17th, Twitter user @kirawontmiss posted a meme protesting against the "How do you serve cunt" trend, receiving over 18,000 likes in two days (seen below).[4]
