I Just Hit a Dog Going 70MPH on My Truck is a copypasta based on a 2016 tweet posted by YouTuber KEEMSTAR on Christmas Eve 2016. The tweet was turned into a copypasta by other YouTube content creators who annually tweet the copypasta out of context on Christmas Eve.
Origin
On December 24th, 2016, YouTuber KEEMSTAR tweeted[1] a story of hitting a dog who ran onto the highway with his truck going 70 miles per hour. In a separate tweet, KEEMSTAR confirmed that the dog died. The tweet received over 2,000 retweets and 5,400 likes prior to being deleted by KEEMSTAR (shown below).

On December 25th, 2016, Twitter[2] user @HWYMG posted the earliest notable copy of KEEMSTAR's tweet, with the post gaining over 20 retweets and 430 likes (shown below, left). On June 2nd, 2017, YouTuber Dolan Dark replied[3] to actress Miranda Cosgrove with the first sentence from the tweet, with the reply gaining over 130 retweets and 1,200 likes in five years (shown below, right).
On December 24th, 2017, Dolan Dark tweeted[4] the full copypasta, with the tweet gaining over 750 retweets and 12,500 likes in five years (shown below).
Spread
In 2017, Dolan Dark and other YouTubers tweeted the copypasta on Christmas Eve. A tweet[5] by Dolan Dark received over 1,400 retweets and 26,600 likes in five years. Tweets[6][7] by Jschlatt and Nopeify gained over 70 retweets and 870 likes and 50 retweets and 2,100 likes, respectively (shown below, left and right).
In the following years, these and other content creators tweeted the copypasta out of context on Christmas Eve, with the copypasta gaining increasingly more recognition every year. On December 24th, 2021, KEEMSTAR quote tweeted a post by Ricky Berwick, recognizing his tweet as a copypasta, with the tweet gaining over 230 retweets and 8,700 likes in one year (shown below).
