I Want It, I Got It is a series of TikTok parody videos in which users showcase the material items they wanted and now have in sync with the Ariana Grande song "7 Rings".

Origin

On January 18th, 2019, pop hip-hop singer Ariana Grande released the song "7 Rings" included in her upcoming fifth studio album Thank U, Next. The music video was uploaded to YouTube and has received 100 million views and four million likes within a week (shown below).

The first TikTok parody of "I Want It, I Got It" is unknown. On January 24, YouTuber Trainerz posted a "I Want It, I Got It" TikTok video of toy cars. The video has gained 150 views within its first week (shown below).

Precursor

In October of 2018, TikTok users began posting similar videos in which people snap their fingers and the items on a screen appear in their hands. On October 20th, 2018, Camila Morais posted one of these videos to YouTube (shown below). The video gained 20,462 views and 94 likes in three months.

Spread

On Jan 28, 2019, YouTuber TikTokTion uploaded a compilation video which has gained 360 views in two days (shown below).

On January 30th, writer Taylor Lorenz posted a variation of "I Want It, I Got It" in with TikTok user Maddie.andfinn show off their Louis Vuitton bag, Gucci perfume and Macbook to Twitter with the caption "Disappointed to announce rich people have discovered TikTok." The tweet has gained 57 retweets and 573 likes in a day (shown below).
