I Wonder If They Ever Explored Each Other's Bodies refers to a series of shitpost memes including image macros and Twitter posts in which two or more characters from a given media franchise are presented over text either implying that they have explored each other's bodies or wondering if they have alongside the catchphrase "I wonder if they ever explored each other's bodies." The meme was inspired by a June 2021 tweet, gaining popularity in July that year.

Origin

On June 25th, 2021, Twitter[1] user @cal_gif posted, "do yall ever wonder if the five guys who started five guys the burger chain ever explored eachothers bodies," gaining over 134,000 likes and 11,200 retweets (shown below). This is the first known viral post using the phrase in reference to fictional characters.



A screenshot of the tweet was reposted around social media a number of times to great success, including a post on Instagram[2] page papastweeteria on June 26th, gaining over 76,000 likes in a month.

Spread

On July 3rd, 2021, Instagram[3] page @deadpickles uploaded a Whisper featuring a photo of Simon and Garfunkel with the text, "Do you think simon and Garfunkel ever explored each other's bodies." The image gained over 3,800 likes in four weeks (shown below).

On July 5th, Instagram[4] user @cookie._.muncher posted a variant of the meme using Ice Age characters Manny and Diego, garnering over 1,700 likes in four weeks (shown below, left). The image was reposted by @peachfvn[6] on July 6th, receiving over 29,000 likes in the same time span. On July 8th, Instagram[5] user @lifes.a.bender uploaded a Whisper with a similar caption over an image of Taylor Swift and Karlie Kloss, garnering over 13,000 likes in a comparable span of time (shown below, right).

On July 29th, Instagram[7] meme page boomer.jim posted a Whisper featuring the caption with characters from the educational PC game BrainPop, gaining over 24,700 likes in a day (shown below).
