The meme was first posted to Reddit in November 2019 and gained viral spread, becoming further popularized on Twitter in 2022 after the original image (showing a man wearing oversized pants) was reposted with a new caption.

Origin

On November 23rd, 2019, Redditor GameOfLevels posted a photograph to /r/funny^[1] of a man's lower half, showing him wearing oversized pants, writing, "If your lawyers pants look like this you going to jail," garnering over 46,000 upvotes in just over three years (shown below). The meme gained viral spread across social media, inspiring several viral reposts over the following years on sites including Instagram^[2] and Facebook.^[3]
