"I'm Gonna Do What's Called a Pro Gamer Move" refers to a memorable quote from the video "LET'S PLAY SUPER MARIO QUADRATICS" by YouTuber Michael Stevens. Online, the quote has been used to parody stereotypical edgy gamer behavior, as well as in memes referencing various mechanics in video games.
Origin
On March 28th, 2019, YouTuber Michael Stevens uploaded a Let's Play video of 2019 educational video game Super Mario Quadratics.[1] At 13:05 mark of the video, Stevens comments that he is going to do what is called a pro gamer move.

Spread
On the same day, YouTube user Sir Alban the Darling posted the quote in the comment section of the video, with the comment gaining over 490 likes in two months.[2] On March 30th, 2019, Redditor format420 posted a still image from the video paired with the reply screenshot to /r/vsauce and /r/vsaucememes subreddits,[3][4] where it gained over 270 and 100 upvotes in the same period, respectively (shown below).
On April 24th, 2019, Redditor Supreme_Motu posted an image macro based on the quote to /r/dankmemes[5] and /r/MemeEconomy[6] subreddits, with the latter post gaining 56 upvotes one month (shown below, left). On April 25th, 2019, Redditor dank_memes0101 post a meme based on Supreme_Motu's template to /r/dankmemes[7] and /r/GamersRiseUp[8] subreddits, with the posts gaining over 4,800 and 9,800 upvotes in one month, respectively (shown below, right).
In the following weeks, the format gained significant popularity on Reddit, with notable posts appearing in /r/dankmemes,[9] /r/GamersRiseUp,[10] /r/HistoryMemes[11] and other online communities.
