I'm Stuff refers to an exploitable four-panel image depicting a fan-written exchange between Spider-Man: Homecoming characters Peter Parker, Michelle Jones and Tony Stark. Initially spread as a cringeworthy image in /r/4PanelCringe and other respective communities in December 2018, the image has since been used for ironic edits, including multi-panel edits featuring characters from other fandoms.

The format later gained strong associating with Robert Downey Jr.'s Comments, with a macro of the actor captioned "I'm Stuff" gaining popularity as a non-sequitur punchline.

Origin

On December 1st, 2018, Redditor Cak33nthusiast uploaded a four-panel image of unknown origin to /r/4PanelCringe subreddit.^[1] The image depicted a cringeworthy exchange between 2017 superhero film Spider-Man: Homecoming characters Peter Parker, Michelle Jones and Tony Stark. The post gained over 15,400 upvotes in five months.

In the following months, the image was reposted multiple times in /r/4PanelCringe, /r/terriblefandommemes and other similar communities.^[2][3]

On December 4th, 2018, an unknown Reddit user posted the first known edit of the image to /r/reimimemes subreddit, where it gained 2 upvotes (shown below, left).^[4] On January 22nd, 2019, an unknown Reddit user posted the image, combined with a "Robert Downey Jr. Comments" meme, to /r/okbuddyretard subreddit (shown below, right).^[5] The post gained over 2,200 upvotes in three months.

In the following months, multiple edits of the image appeared on /r/okbuddyretard subreddit and on Instagram, including multi-panel edits featuring characters from other films done in a similar manner. In /r/4PanelCringe, /r/MarvelCringe and /r/terriblefandommemes subreddits, the phrase "laughing Pete, your girlfriend is awesome" achieved the status that of an in-joke and has been used as a reply to similar fandom memes.^[6][7][8]
