About
Introverts vs. Extroverts During Quarantine, also known as Introverts and Extroverts In Quarantine, refers to a series of reaction images and object labeling memes that revolve around the differences between introverted and extroverted individuals living in self-isolation and quarantine during the coronavirus pandemic in 2020. Typically, these memes refer to introverts already being accustomed to a quarantine-like environment and extroverts struggling with a lack of social interaction. The theme was primarily seen on Reddit at first but spread to other social media platforms throughout March and April 2020 as lockdowns were extended worldwide.
Origin
The first example to use the theme surfaced on social media around mid-March 2020 when many online began making memes about quarantines and lockdowns going into place around the world during the COVID-19 outbreak. One early example (seen below) was posted on March 19th, 2020, by Redditor[1] shifoc to the r/memes sub. The meme received nearly 50,000 upvotes and 135 comments.

Spread
The theme spread further as additional Redditors joined in on the trend with their own creations. On March 28th, 2020, Redditor[2] gamingjake posted another example to the r/CoronavirusMemes sub depicting SpongeBob labeled as an introvert and Squidward as an extrovert. The post (shown below) was upvoted 186 times.

On Imgur,[3] an image from INTROVERTCIRCLEJERK depicting an introvert celebrating the lockdown being extended (seen below) has been viewed almost 1 million times since being uploaded on March 30th, 2020.

The trend also made its way over to Twitter,[4] seen in an example from user HistoryMuppet in a tweet from April 11th, 2020. The tweet (shown below) received over 5,600 likes and 1,000 retweets.

Twitter[5] user pash22 tweeted a GIF using the trend on April 12th, 2020, showing an extrovert and introvert each reacting to the quarantine lifestyle. This GIF (seen below) was liked 65 times and retweeted another 26 times.
