iPad Pete is the name given to Former South Bend Mayor and Presidential Candidate Pete Buttigieg when he tweets from his iPad. These tweets seem to be more sassy than usual, leading some supporters to believe that he has a tendency to grab his iPad whenever he's feeling angsty.
Origin
The earliest known recognition of the phenomenon was pointed out by Twitter user @TheOnlyPristine on May 12, 2020. However, the user's old account has been deleted, so the original tweet no longer exists.


Spread
Throughout the next few weeks, Pete tweeted multiple times from his iPad. Such tweets were generally sassier than usual.
On July 12, 2020, Pete acknowledged the iPad Pete meme for the first time. He tweeted "Listening to medical experts should not be political", to which Senator John Cornyn retweeted and added "Which ones?". Pete then retweeted this tweet, saying "Gah! Just a minute while I grab my iPad". Senator Cornyn then retweeted a screenshot of the exchange, adding "Guess you can't answer the question." Pete then retweeted this tweet, adding 6 tweets explaining which experts we should be listening to.
On July 12, 2020, an unknown user edited Senator Cornyn's Wikipedia page to say "On July 12, 2020, Cornyn got his ass handed to him on a silver platter on Twitter by former democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg over his callous ignorance of science, Buttigieg tweeting "Gah! Just a minute while I grab my iPad", and then proceeding to go on a rant saying that he should trust disease experts, doctors, other medical professionals, and even Google before politicizing the coronavirus pandemic.
