IShowSpeed Trying Not To Laugh Edits refers to photoshopped or altered versions of the IShowSpeed Smiling Trying Not To Laugh meme, edited to portray Speed in different time periods, cultures and languages. The exploitable memes began making the rounds in early June 2024, three years after the video of Speed trying not to laugh first streamed online.
Origin
On December 29th, 2021, iShowSpeed hosted a live stream on YouTube[7] in which he participated in a build battle in Fortnite Creative. At roughly the 2:08:05 timestamp, a young player walks up to Speed's Fornite character and says "Speed, I really need this. My mom is kinda homeless. I live with my dad. I want to help her out." Speed can be seen pursing his lips and suppressing a laugh (seen below). The post gathered over 2.3 million views in three years (seen below).
On June 1st, 2024, X[1] user @Kawa_suguru posted the earliest known edit of the IShowSpeed Trying Not To Laugh meme, portraying Speed in black and white with an old-timey mustache and monocle. The caption on the image read, "Ishowspeed I’m gazing over your film right now, how come you are cackling? Speed your manners are quite insidious! Speed I’m looking at your film, why are you cackling chap’?!"
On June 3rd, X[2] user @ScoopOfButter posted a video version of the meme, with a voiceover mimicking the aforementioned post's old-timey style and cadence. The video gathered over 160,000 likes in three days (seen below).

Various other X users posted their versions of the meme in June 2024, including X[3] user @PublicKip on June 3rd, 2024, whose edit of IShowSpeed in dressed as a Royal gathered over 60,000 likes in three days (seen below, left). The caption on the post read, "Ishowspeed m'lord I'm spectating your play at present, why art thou laughing. m'lord your actions are quite ill-intentioned."
On June 5th, X[4] user @Godifierr's post showing Speed depicted in ASCII, gathering over 20,000 likes in a day (seen below, right),
Also on June 5th, 2024, X[5] user @Freaksaw_Man posted a caveman version of the meme (seen below, top), while X[6] user @zpokrr posted a version edited to resemble a video made by a content farm (seen below, bottom). The posts gathered over 50,000 and 80,000 respectively (seen below).
