It Is So Bad, I Want To Give You A Zero refers to a clip of Tyra Banks harshly judging an America's Next Top Model contestant with the comment, "It is so bad, I want to give you a zero, but that's not possible, so I give you a one." In winter 2021, the quote became an original sound on TikTok and was used in lip-dub skits by people reminiscing about their poor life choices.

Origin

During Cycle 21, episode five of America's Next Top Model[1] contestant Lenox struggles in a "sexy" concept challenge. When Tyra Banks judges Lenox, she says the quote, "It was so bad, I want to give you a zero, but that's not possible, so I give you a one." It is the lowest score given out in the show's history.

On October 9th, 2021, TikToker Justforfun87 uploaded the clip, gaining over 343,000 likes over roughly 10 weeks (shown below).

In December 2021, the audio began growing on the platform as it was paired with people reminiscing about their poor fashion choices when they were younger or other cringeworthy decisions of their past. During the week of December 13th, numerous influencers used the sound, including Charli D'Amelio, whose post gained over 3.8 million likes in over one week (shown below, left). On December 19th, actress Ashley Tisdale posted her version of the meme, gaining over 3.9 million likes in two days (shown below, right). The meme was also covered by The Tab[2] on December 16th.
