"It's Salmon!!" (Japanese: シャケだああああああああああああ！！！, Shake Daaaaaaaaaaaaah!!!) is a memorable quote taken from a Japanese TV anime series Nichijou. This phrase became one of the popular resources for MAD videos on Nico Nico Douga (NND).
Origin
The phrase "It's Salmon!!!" comes from the 1st episode in the anime series which was produced byu Kyoto Animation and was aird from April 2011 to September 2011, and it was shouted by one of the main characters in the anime Yuko Aioi when she was struck her head by a fillet of raw salmon fallen from the sky.
Spread
Similar to other Kyoto Animation's TV anime series such as Lucky Star, K-ON! and The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, There are a thousand more MAD videos using Nichijou's scenes on NND.[1] Among those videos, this quite surreal scene and the scream of "It's Salmon!!!" are one of the most popular subjects. As of January 2012, the amount of videos in this series on NND is over 150.[2]
