Jerma Teacher Noise is a high pitched sound effect made by Twitch streamer Jerma985 that became an exploitable meme in the early 2020s. The meme originates from a stream where Jerma played L.A. Noire, and has since been turned into a reanimation and re-dub trend on YouTube
Origin
The 'Jerma Teacher Noise' meme originates from a September 25th, 2018, Jerma985 stream where he played the video game L.A. Noire on his Twitch.[1] During the stream (shown below), Jerma talks about when he was a substitute teacher, and how he would quickly quiet a group of rowdy kids in class by making a strange, loud beeping noise that confused them into being quiet.
A clip (shown below) of the "Teacher Noise" posted to YouTube[2] by nicky p on August 10th, 2019, where it received over 2.7 million views in over five years.

The scene was reanimated several times throughout the early 2020's. On September 5th, 2021, YouTube[3] animator Reindrew posted an animation of the scene (shown below, left) that received over 75,000 views in three years. On February 2nd, 2022, YouTube[4] animator Kobee :) posted an animation of the scene (shown below, right) that received over 47,000 views in over two years.
On April 13th, 2022, YouTube[5] animator GoogleyGareth posted the scene recreated in Source Filmmaker using Scout from Team Fortress 2. The video (shown below, left) received over 232,000 views in over two years. On June 14th, 2022, YouTube[6] animator Mikopath posted the scene recreated using stop-motion animation and LEGO parts. The video (shown below, right) received over 405,000 views in over two years.
Redubs of the scene in different languages started to appear on YouTube in 2023 and 2024. On July 23, 2023, YouTuber[7] MrpoopJPG posted a redub of the scene in Latin Spanish (shown below, left) which received over 34,000 views in over one year. On August 3rd, 2023, YouTuber[8] DippyTheDM posted the scene redubbed in German (shown below, right) which received over 167,000 views in over one year.
On October 13th, 2024, YouTuber[9] Edgy Trash posted a redub of the scene in Norwegian (shown below, left) which received over 81,000 views in over one month. On November 8th, 2024, YouTube user tebby24 中文[10] posted a redub of the scene in Chinese (shown below, right) which received over 106,000 views in over two weeks.
