About

JPMorgan Executive Steals Knicks Trash Can, also known as Woman Stealing Knicks Garbage Can, refers to a viral video of ex-JPMorgan executive Angie Báez dumping out the contents of a New York Knicks-branded trash can in New York City during the New York Knicks Championship Parade and stealing it, later being filmed traveling with it on the subway.

The parade was held on June 18th, 2026, and the video went viral the next day as the subject of criticism, especially from critics who noted the woman's previous roles in DEI positions for major corporations. As the video and posts about it continued to go viral, the woman in the video was then identified as Angie Báez, a JPMorgan Chase executive. Following the backlash, it was reported that she was fired over the video.

Origin

On June 18th, 2026, the Knicks Championship Parade took place in New York City, with the NYC Department of Sanitation (DSNY) unveiling a special series of Knicks-colored waste bins the day before the event to celebrate the city's basketball team winning the NBA championship.[5]

The following day, on June 19th, TikToker[1] @mel_aston posted a video of a woman, now reported to be 40-year-old Angie Báez, who was at the time working as the executive director of community and industry engagement for card and connected commerce at JPMorgan Chase, dumping the contents of a Knicks-branded trash can onto the street and stealing the can. The post gained over 7.5 million views in six days.

The video of the woman stealing the DSNY garbage bin spread over the next few days as the subject of criticism, as well as memes.

For instance, on June 19th, 2026, X[2] / Twitter user @ClownWorld reposted it, writing, "She saw a Knicks-colored trash can and decided it belonged in her living room," gaining over 22,000 likes in five days.

As early as June 21st, TikToker @mzzfivetwo_ posted and deleted a second video of the woman, this one showing her holding the trash can on the NYC subway. It was reposted by X[3] user @ImMeme0 that day, gaining over 12,000 likes in three days.

On June 23rd, 2026, the New York Post[4] reported that the woman in the video was fired from her job at JPMorgan over the viral clip. The article claims that before being promoted to executive director of community and industry engagement for card and connected commerce, she was a DEI rep.

On June 24th, X[5] user @trustfundterry posted what is purported to be her resume, writing, "JPMorgan hiring her with this résumé is a bigger crime than her dumping the trash on the sidewalk," gaining over 12,000 likes in under a day.
