Jurassic World: Dominion Asks A Single Question is a portion of quote from the director of the upcoming film Jurassic World: Dominion, Colin Trevorrow, that became a snowclone on Twitter The full quote reads, "This movie asks a single question: If dinosaurs lived among us, would you be safe? And the answer is… no." As the quote spread around Twitter, people poked fun at it for the question's obvious answer and altered the "single question" posed by the film.
Origin
On August 25th, 2021, TheWrap film editor Beatrice Verhoeven[1] tweeted a quote from Jurassic World: Dominion director Colin Trevorrow at CinemaCon, who said, of the film, "This movie asks a single question: If dinosaurs lived among us, would you be safe? And the answer is… no." The tweet gained over 80 retweets and 170 likes (shown below, left). Later that evening, the quote was reposted by the Twitter account @DiscussingFilm,[2] where it was more widely viewed, as the tweet gained over 500 retweets, 2,400 quote-tweets, and 5,400 likes (shown below, right).
Spread
The @DiscussingFilm tweet spread on Twitter as people made jokes about Trevorrow's quote. User @Great_Katzby[3] joked, "I'm so happy Jurassic World: Dominion is going to answer this question because Jurassic Park, The Lost World, Jurassic Park III, Jurassic World, and Fallen Kingdom really left me wondering if humans were safe around dinosaurs," gaining over 120 retweets and 540 likes (shown below, left). User @JoelGord[4] paired the quote with an image of Garth Marenghi, gaining over 350 retweets and 2,900 likes (shown below, right).
Others made jokes by altering elements of the quote. For example, Hbomberguy tweeted,[5] "POWER OUTLET: EXTINCTION asks a single question. If you put your finger in a power outlet, would you be safe? And the answer is no," gaining over 40 retweets and 1,300 likes (shown below, left). User @MoviesSilently[6] used the same construction to joke about Georges Méliès The Monster, gaining over 120 likes (shown below, right).
