Origin
It is unclear when exactly the phrase "just saw someone with this PFP" was first used online. One of the earliest examples of the meme was posted by X[1] user @spectacularNB on March 31st, 2021, garnering around 72 likes in three years (shown below).
Spread
The meme gained viral spread over the following years, becoming notably popular in 2023. On May 24th, 2023, X[2] user @FoursideKM posted the phrase over an image of Mario, garnering over 1,100 likes in 10 months (shown below, left). On August 25th, X[3] user @TheSillySnail posted a version of the meme that gained over 1,900 likes in seven months (shown below, right).
