The clip in isolation was uploaded to YouTube on January 7th, 2024, by The Sicarah Show, gaining over 24,000 views in three weeks (shown below).

The clip spread primarily on TikTok over the following weeks as it became a meme. On January 7th, 2024, TikTok user @theluxediary2.0^[1] posted it with the caption, "Pov: me asking GOD why he keep removing people I care about from my life," gaining over 1.9 million views in three weeks (shown below, left). On January 4th, user sierrabxo^[2] posted an edit of the clip making it about getting back with an ex, gaining over 16,000 views in four weeks (shown below, right).
