Origin

The Kersal Massive is a "band" formed of 3 kids who live in Kersal, a district inside the City of Salford in North West England. This video clip is of the so-called band performing a gangsta rap, which was originally sent in to the recording company 679 Recordings in order to win a Kano BMX bike. The video of them rapping was somehow found by Youtube user Paoloray and posted to Youtube in March of 2006, where it currently has more than 500,000 views.

About / Recognition

Since the video was filmed, the children/teenagers (Ginger Joe, MC Mack, and Little F*ckin' Kev as described in the video) have considerably aged, as seen in this mock interview. There are over 60,000 results on Google for "Kersal Massive". Since the release of the video on Youtube, there has been a considerably long Uncyclopedia article, an article on Encyclopedia Dramatica, an article written about it in Tech Digest, a possible spoof MySpace Music page, as well as ranked number one on Current TV's list of the Top 50 viral videos, ahead of other memes such as Chocolate Rain and Star Wars Kid. It is also mentioned in Wikipedia's list of Internet phenomena under the "Videos" section. For a small timeline on Kersal Massive videos, see this Dipity timeline. For lyrics, click here.

Derivatives

Many parodies and derivatives have stemmed from the original video.

Among others.
