Knuckle Sandwich also known as I Brought You Some Lunch are reaction images featuring a person putting their fist between bread to create a "knuckle sandwich" which is slang for punching someone in the face.

Origin

On January 3rd, 2004, Urban Dictionary^[1] user Branid defined knuckle sandwich as "to administer a mouthful of fist; to punch someone in the face"which received 391 upvotes and 104 downvotes in 15 years. On March 17th, 2010, Dollface uploaded one of the first photos of a knuckle sandwich to a Questionable Content^[2] forum in reply to the question, "What is the best Sandwich?" (shown below).

Spread

On September 24th, 2012, Flickr user Steven Wallace^[3] uploaded another photo of a fist in a sandwich which gained over 800 views in seven years (shown below, left). On July 8th, 2019, boss_ladiibree posted a photo of themself sitting with their fist between bread to Instagram^[4] and add the caption "When he's been stressing you out all day and ask you what's for dinner" (shown below, center). On July 23rd, Twitter user @TreacyRedWolfTF^[5] uploaded a similar photo of himself with the caption "Got a snack for the inventor of cancer 😈😤" (shown below, right). The tweet gained over 200 likes and 100 retweets. Some Twitter user re-captioned @TreacyRedWolfTF's photo and posted it to other platforms that day.
