About

"Let The Bodies Hit The Floor" is a lyric from the 2001 song “Bodies” by the American nu metal group Drowning Pool,[1] which has often used in dubbed remix videos online in a similar vein to the 2002 nu metal song "Crawling" by Linkin' Park.

Origin

On May 14th, 2001, the song “Bodies” was released as the lead single for Drowning Pool's debut album Sinner. According to the band's lead singer Dave Williams, the song is about dancing in a mosh pit at a rock concert.[2] On December 18th, 2006, YouTuber RheannonDawn uploaded the music video for the song, which gained over 40 million views and 57,000 comments within nine years (shown below).

On November 30th, 2006, YouTuber FAQ uploaded an anime music video featuring scenes from Naruto with "Bodies" playing in the background (shown below, left). Over the next nine years, the video garnered more than two million views and 2,200 comments. On April 10th, 2008, YouTuber TheSinfulJoker uploaded footage of televangelist Benny Hinn dubbed with "Bodies" (shown below, right).



On November 8th, 2010, YouTuber peachy525 uploaded a video of a parrot singing the lyrics from "Bodies" (shown below). Within five years, the video gained over 8.9 million views and 15,000 comments.



On March 30th, Redditor Kavite submitted an animated GIF of Nicolas Cage screaming while bursting out copies of his face in a post titled "MRW it gets to the chorus of 'Let the Bodies Hit the Floor" to the /r/reactiongifs[4] subreddit (shown below). Prior to being archived, the post gathered upwards of 2,100 votes (92% upvoted) and 55 comments.
