The Miles Morales Trend is a TikTok and Instagram Reels lip-dub trend based on a scene from the animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse in which Miles Morales, Spider-Man, describes his origin story. While lip-dubbing to the lines, the participant pretends to be Miles Morales and appears to stick to the ceiling with one hand, often with another person entering the frame and acting shocked at the feat.

The trend was started in early August 2026 and went viral that month on both TikTok and Reels. The trend involves jumping on a stool, chair or other raised surface while your legs are below the camera and reaching towards the ceiling to make it look like you're stuck to the ceiling like Spider-Man, with many swaying to further sell the illusion.

Origin

On August 2nd, 2026, TikToker^[1] @piperpubspam posted a video in which she lip-syncs to audio from a scene in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse where Miles Morales explains his origin story.

In the video, she jumps up onto an off-camera chair and makes it look like she's hanging from the ceiling like Spider-Man. The video gained over 91.4 million views in about two weeks and is the earliest known version of the trend.

Spread

The trend was further popularized on TikTok and Reels throughout August 2026. Some participants take it a step further by adding web effects, as if they're shooting webs from their wrists, or by making it appear as if their legs are dangling without a stool or chair underneath.

On August 8th, 2026, TikToker^[2] @brookemonk_ posted a video following the trend that gained over 85 million views in five days.

That same day, Instagram^[3] user c4pr1i posted a video doing the trend, garnering over 53,000 likes in five days.

On August 11th, 2026, TikToker^[4] @merrickhanna posted a video of himself doing the trend that gained over 2.6 million views in two days.
