Lex Luthor x Rouge the Bat refers to crack shipping memes, posts and fan art pairing Rouge the Bat from the Sonic the Hedgehog series and Superman villain Lex Luthor.

The ship is based on two panels featuring Rouge and Lex in the Sonic x DC: Metal Legion comic crossover series, which have been paired together without context and out of order to make it seem like Rouge and Luthor had sex. The panels were first posted in June 2026 and inspired memes imagining them as partners, including fan art.

Origin

On June 3rd, 2026, DC x Sonic the Hedgehog: Metal Legion #2, the second release in a miniseries crossing over DC Comics superheroes with Sonic the Hedgehog, was released. The comic features several scenes between Lex Luthor and Rouge the Bat.

In the comic, Rouge the Bat teams up with Catwoman to trick Lex Luthor into telling her about his villainous plan. She does this by tricking Luthor into thinking she's on his side. In one panel, Lex Luthor is seen entering a room in a robe with two glasses and some sparkling water to celebrate their partnership. Rogue is in the foreground on a chair, looking at some diamonds, dressed like Catwoman. Luthor says, "Sparkling water, Miss Rouge?" Rouge answers, "Anything that sparkles, Lex!" The scene then cuts to Rouge bragging about getting Luthor's plan to Catwoman. Shortly after, Luthor walks from his building and says, "Ugh… blasted bat kept me up all night."

On June 3rd, 2026, Redditor PeasantLich posted these two panels to the /r/outofcontextcomics^[1] subreddit, making it seem as if Luthor had sex with Rouge, titling the post, "Wait a minute, this Bat isn't a Man!" garnering over 2,700 upvotes in 12 days.
