About

Lopunny (Japanese: ップ Mimilop) is a rabbit-shaped Pokémon that was first introduced in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. Similar to Gardevoir, the Pokémon has been a popular source of fan art due to its anthropomorphic, feminine nature.

Origin

Lopunny debuted Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, which were first released in Japan on September 28th, 2006, and released in North America on April 22nd, 2007.[1] It is Pokémon #0428 in the Pokédex, and evolves from Buneary with a high level of friendship.[2]


Spread

Lopunny was swiftly a source of fan art for Pokémon fans after the release of the games. On April 24th, two days after the North American release of the games, Deviantart[4] user Poo7878 posted art of Lopunny and Buneary (shown below, left). On December 20th, DeviantArt user Shineymagic posted art of the Pokémon (shown below, right).[3]

Lopunny has gained a reputation as one of the most sexually attractive Pokémon also been the subject of multiple Smash or Pass videos. For example, on February 15th, 2022, YouTuber LittlePuffer posted a video of their humorous reaction to encountering Lopunny in "Smash or Pass," gaining over 43,000 views in eighteen months (shown below, left). Lopunny was notably the thumbnail Pokémon in Markiplier's 'Smash or Pass' Pokémon Video (shown below, right).


Lopunny is also the subject of the There's no laws against Pokémon meme, exemplified by a November 28th, 2022, TikTok posted by user goyslop featuring The Joker talking to Batman about catching a Lopunny, gaining over 166,000 likes in nine months (shown below).

On June 10th, 2023, Redditor Doritodolphin469 posted a humorous video about Lopunny's reputation to /r/hornyjail,[5] gaining over 540 points in two months (shown below).
