Lucas Gets Scared refers to a series of video edits in which social media personality Lucas Vazquez, a 10-year-old boy, is shocked by various characters approaching him. The format gained significant popularity on Instagram in May 2019.
Origin
On December 17th, 2018, YouTube channel FBE uploaded a video titled "Generations React To AND MEET James Charles" in which several people met make-up artist James Charles. [1] One of the participants of the video, 10-year-old boy Lucas Vazquez, reacts to James Charles entering the room by jumping out of his chair and walking out of the camera shot.

On May 2nd, 2019, Instagram users professionalretard.mp4[2] and vodkapochinki[3] uploaded multiple edits based on the scene to the site, with the posts gaining over 18,000 and 450 likes respectively (shown below, left and right). vodkapochinki also provided a video template in their post.
In the following days, multiple Instagram users uploaded more memes based on the format, including notable edits by papyrus.mp4,[4] fr1ck.mp4[5] and memedealer.dan.[6]
