About

Male 07 or Male_07 is a Half-Life 2 citizen model depicting a caucasian man with light facial hair. The character's design is modeled after a man named Michael S. Smith. Male_07 is largely known for its use in the Skibidi Toilet web series, with the heads in the toilets being Male_07's head. Prior to this, Male_07 was the subject of Source Filmmaker animations and memes across sites including Reddit and YouTube.

Origin

The Male 07 model, also known as Mike, was first used in the 2004 video game Half-Life 2.^[1] He is modeled after a man named Michael S. Smith, who modeled several other citizen models for the game (side-by-side of Smith, Male_07 shown below).

One of Male 07's first notable uses outside of Half-Life 2 is the fan comic Concerned, which started on May 1st, 2005, featuring Male 07 as the protagonist "Gordon Frohman"^[9] (examples shown below).

Spread

One of the earliest known standalone memes to use the Male 07 model is a video uploaded by YouTuber^[2] TamiyaGuy on January 17th, 2012 titled "Male_07.mp4," garnering over 12,000 views in 12 years (shown below).

Male 07 became increasingly popularized in memes over the following years. On June 23rd, 2018, a meme was posted to /r/HalfLife^[3] specifically mentioning Male 07, garnering around 250 upvotes in six years. On March 11th, 2020, YouTuber^[4] DaFuq!?Boom! used Male 07 in an animation, garnering over 35 million views in four years (shown below). The YouTuber continued to use Male 07 in many future animations.

On September 11th, u/maxxch87 posted a meme about Male 07 to /r/HalfLife,^[5] garnering over 3,300 upvotes in four years. On January 11th, 2022, YouTuber^[6] DaFuq!?Boom! posted a video titled "male_07 becoming uncanny," based on the Mr. Incredible Becoming Uncanny meme, garnering over 6.9 million views in two years (shown below).

On April 28th, 2022, u/Kekkuda posted a this man meme using Male 07's head to /r/HalfLife,^[7] garnering over 1,300 upvotes in two years (shown below). On May 29th, YouTuber^[8] Richter Overtime posted a video on the history and popularity of the character, garnering over 617,000 views in two years.

Use In Skibidi Toilet

On February 7th, 2023, YouTuber DaFuq!?Boom! posted the first episode of Skibidi Toilet, featuring Male 07's head sticking out of a toilet. Male 07 would continue to appear in Skibidi Toilet as the toilets.
