Mascot Breakdancing Videos are videos in which a person dressed in a mascot costume of a popular character breakdances in front of a crowd, usually at events such as birthday parties. These videos frequently go viral and are remixed using music or various video edits.

Origin

The oldest known mascot breakdancing video was uploaded to YouTube on April 20th, 2006 as the DJ Format music video "We Know Something You Don't Know" (shown below).[1] The video received over 1.5 million views in over 15 years.



Spread

Another mascot breakdancing video was uploaded to YouTube on April 22nd, 2007. The video (shown below) features a man in a dog costume facing off against a random bystander, and has received over 700,000 views in over 14 years.[2]



Later videos would feature better-known mascots such as Spider-Man, Elmo, or Woody. On April 7th, 2008, SPOILEDIVA9 posted a YouTube video that features an Elmo mascot breakdancing at a birthday party. The video (shown below), has over 300,000 views in over 13 years.[3]



On September 24th, 2011, tony mitchell would post a video to YouTube of a Woody mascot breakdancing at his nephew's birthday party. The video (shown below) would receiverover 100,000 views in over ten years, and inspire a few remix videos.[4]
