About

MaximilianMus "Oh Yeah Yeah" refers to a YouTube campaign orchestrated by YouTuber MaximilianMus, best known for trolling in the battle royale game Fortnite, which calls for his fans to "take over YouTube" by posting comments using profile pictures featuring the protagonist JC Denton from the 2000 video game Deus Ex. Many of the comments contain the words "oh yeah yeah," referencing MaximilianMus' signature catchphrase.

Origin

MaximilianMus is a Swedish YouTuber who joined the platform on August 24th, 2011, and is self-described as a "Fortnite trolling channel",[1] but mainly started off doing Call of Duty, FNAF and Overwatch videos, like the video "Telling OW teammates they're mad untill they actually get mad" (Shown below). As of January 23rd, 2019, he has more than 994,000 subscribers and over 122 million total views.

On June 1st, 2018, MaximilianMus uploaded a video titled "i ran into pewdiepie in fortnite and he was kinda rude" (Shown below, left), where he first says the words "Oh yeah yeah". YouTuber DGM-PLAYZ uploaded a compliation of that video on June 3rd, where MaximilianMus mainly says the words "Oh yeah yeah" (Showed below, right). The original video garnered 1,558,000 views and 43,000 likes in 7 months, while the DGM-PLAYZ video got 122,000 views and 2,300 likes in the same timespan.

Spread

Within a few weeks of uploading the video, MaximilianMus gained a large following, growing from 426,000 subscribers a day before the original video uploaded to 534,000 subscribers on June 21st, when he uploaded the video "watch this if ur a true fan" (Shown below), in which he explains his profile picture being the character JC Denton from the 2000 video game Deus Ex, and among other things, instructed his fans to change their profile pictures to that of JC Denton's face.

"Oh Yeah Yeah" Music Video

On January 7th, 2019, MaximilianMus uploaded a video titled "MaximilianMus – Oh Yeah Yeah" (Shown below, left), which is a parody of German band Trio's 1982 song "Da Da Da" (Music video first uploaded to YouTube on June 12th, 2008, shown below, right) using footage from MaximilianMus' original "Oh Yeah Yeah" video. It has garnered 1,800,000 views and 141,000 likes in 2 weeks.

YouTube Comments Takeover

By the time January 19th hit, MaximilianMus had around 900,000 subscribers, many of them using the JC Denton profile picture. That day he uploaded a video titled "It's about time we take over Youtube…" (shown below). The video describes a three step plan to invade the comment sections of YouTube videos. In the video, MaximilianMus first instructs YouTubers to change their profile picture to that of the face of JC Denton, then comment "Oh yeah yeah" on any and every video on YouTube, and lastly to like any comment by any account that carries out these steps. The video garnered 480,700 views and 45,000 likes in three days.

Within hours of the video going live, many of MaximilianMus' fans had their profile pictures changed to that image of JC Denton's face and used his 3 step plan. On January 20th, YouTube briefly took down the video as it violated YouTube's guidelines on spam, scams and deceptive practices, but was later appealed. YouTubers like OscarB Reacts (shown below, left) and DanTDM (shown below, right) posted videos trying to explain the meme/music video a few days after the January 19th video was uploaded.

On January 23rd, in response to many popular YouTubers acknowledging the meme and his recent 1,000,000 subscriber milestone, MaximilianMus uploaded a video titled "Everybody hates us… (1 MIL Face Reveal)" (Shown below), a compilation of YouTubers like DanTDM and Nick Eh 30 talking about the meme and MaximilianMus revealing his face 1:55 into the video.

On February 2nd, MaximilianMus ended the campaign in the video "We took over Youtube" (Shown below), in which he announces that he'll go back to his regular videos.

KSI Response

On January 21st, in response to MaximilianMus' campaign, YouTuber KSIOlajidebtHD, more commonly known as KSI, uploaded a video titled "THIS IS RUINING YOUTUBE" (shown below, left), in which KSI instructed his fans to do a similar thing to the MaximilianMus campaign, but change the profile picture to a black screen (KSI's profile picture) and comment "STOP", in a similar way to the campaigns against Bob. On January 22nd, MaximilianMus responded by uploading a video titled "KSI made a huge mistake declaring war on us" (Shown below, right), in which he threatens KSI to change his profile picture to that of JC Denton wearing a black bandanna within 24 hours of uploading the video.

On January 25th, KSI changed his profile picture to said JC Denton wearing a black bandana and uploaded a video titled "If you can't beat them…" (Shown below, left), where he reacts to MaximilianMus' "KSI made a huge mistake declaring war on us" video and other posts on his subreddit. In response, MaximilianMus uploaded a video titled "KSI made the right decision joining us" (Shown below, right), where he congratulates KSI on changing his profile picture.
