Meowpin, also known as 妙脆角小猫 (Miào Cuì Jiǎo Xiǎo Māo) or "Crispy Corner Cat," is an exploitable image macro and reaction meme featuring a very round, chubby cat with big dark eyes and a tired yet innocent expression. The meme typically conveys feelings of being worn down by everyday life, exhaustion, or quiet acceptance, often paired with the Chinese caption "生活磨平了我的棱角" which translates to "Life has worn down my edges."

Origin

The base photo comes from Guapi (瓜皮, also called Melonpi or 西瓜皮), a well known Chinese house cat born on March 27, 2009. Guapi belongs to a Douban user known as "瓜皮的id酱" and first gained popularity around 2011 thanks to her distinctive watermelon-like striped fur and expressive face. The specific Meowpin version appeared in mid 2026. Internet users began heavily editing Guapi's photos by rounding out her head even more and shaping her ears to look like Bugles corn chips (妙脆角). This edit combined with the "life has worn down my edges" text quickly caught on. A popular audio trend and various green screen edits helped push it into wider circulation on Douyin and Bilibili before spreading to global platforms.

Spread

By early July 2026 the format had gone viral across Chinese social media. People used it for relatable humor about burnout, accepting mediocrity, or simply posting cute cat pictures. English speaking audiences picked it up shortly after under the name Meowpin, often pairing the images with sounds like "dam dam didi didi." It received boosts from meme accounts, pet pages, and even brief appearances in memecoin communities on X and TikTok. The simple, highly editable design made it perfect for image macros, reaction videos, and green screen overlays.

Examples

Common variations include:

  • Plain image with the life-worn caption
  • Edits where the cat "rejects" things like salad in favor of "crispy corners"
  • Reaction versions used in couple arguments or work complaints
  • Crossovers with other popular cats or characters

The meme remains active with new edits appearing daily.
