Mmm Bobby is a viral video clip from an episode of comedian Theo Von's This Past Weekend W/ Theo Von podcast in which comedian Bobby Lee asks Von to pretend to be his dad for a bit, resulting in Von putting on a thick Asian accent and saying, "Mmm Bobby," making Lee laugh. The episode was uploaded on September 10th, 2024, and the clip started going viral on sites like TikTok and Instagram Reels in 2025. In January 2026, the clip was further popularized as a brainrot edit meme, in which it is referenced and edited in absurd ways.

Origin

On September 10th, 2024, an episode of This Past Weekend W/ Theo Von featuring Bobby Lee as a guest was uploaded to YouTube.[1]

At about the 1:29:00 timestamp, Lee asks Von to act like his dad during a conversation about how much Lee used to dislike his father growing up. After asking Von to act like his dad and saying, "Hey, dad," Von says in a thick Asian / Japanese accent, "Mmm Bobby," making Lee burst out in laughter. The episode gained over 7.8 million views in about two years.

The "Mmm Bobby" clip went viral over the following years on sites including Instagram Reels and TikTok. For example, on November 25th, 2024, Instagram[2] user ranger.c.d posted it to over 1.5 million likes in just over a year.

On August 9th, 2025, TikToker[3] @niku30_ posted an animation based on the clip, garnering over 1.6 million views in five months.

On January 19th, 2026, TikToker[4] @alexander_owe24 posted an edit of the clip where Lee's laugh is looped and repeated, garnering over 175,000 views in three days.

On January 20th, TikToker[5] @kuoshana posted a brainrot edit of the clip in which laser eyes and other absurd filters have been added over the top of the original video, garnering over 650,000 views in two days.
