About

"Mo Paz" refers to an image macro meme of the Brazilian funk singer MC Poze do Rodo relaxing at a pool party with the Portuguese expression "mó paz" overlayed in the image, which can be interpreted as a state of peace. The phrase became popular after MC Poze shared a video around August 2020 on his social media saying the expression “Aah, mó paz!" The meme has since been used as an ironic meme on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.

Origin

Prior to August 21, 2020, MC Poze shared a video on his social media saying “Aah, mó paz! How are we doing? So chill with my life, thank God. I'm going to go for a swim." Then the funk singer dives and continues to film himself underwater while smiling. The video (deleted from his social media) was reuploaded by YouTuber[1] @SORVETERU on August 21st, 2020, receiving 27,459 views and 1,300 likes in three years. (seen below)

Shortly after the video spread on social media, the expression "Mo Paz" began to be used as a caption for ironic posts with an image of MC Poze chilling at a pool party doing the peace sign. For example, iFunny[2] user @taus posted an ironic meme joking about fujoshi's. The post (seen below) received 36 likes and comments.

"O termo Fujoshi surgiu por volta de 1970" Otakus em 1969: CO @FUJOSUKI Mo paz, como é que nós tá? Tranquilão com a vida, graças à Deus, vou dá até um mergulho.

Spread

Almost a year later, on March 2021, a new image macro of the "mo paz" meme was created, using a picture of MC Poze do Rodo chilling close to a pool with the overlay text. For instance, on March 22nd, Twitter[3] user @PorraaJheny used the meme to describe her reaction when someone is mad at her. The tweet (seen below) garnered 15 likes and 4 retweets in two years.
