More American Men Now Wear Bracelets Than Eat Stew refers to a tweet by comedian and podcast host Adam Carolla bemoaning the state of modern masculinity by alleging more men today wear bracelets than engage in the apparently more masculine activity of "eating stew." The tweet was widely mocked in parodies on Twitter.

On August 12th, 2020, Adam Carolla^[1] tweeted, "More American males now wear bracelets than eat stew," eventually gaining over 970 retweets, 2,100 quote tweets, and 6,100 likes (shown below).

Spread

The tweet received much more attention weeks after it was first tweeted, after Carolla tweeted on September 2nd, 2020, "Turns out the people dying from covid are old or sick or both. How many of you pussy's got played ? and who's going to get played the next time."^[2] The tweet was widely criticized for downplaying the dangers of the coronavirus, and lead people to scroll through Carolla's other tweets, where they discovered and amplified the bracelet tweet. Twitter user @DanaSchwartzzz^[3] quote-tweeted it on September 2nd, gaining over 700 retweets and 13,000 likes (shown below, left). User @AllisonPregler^[4] tweeted a parody suggesting Carolla threw words at a dartboard, gaining over 220 likes (shown below, right).

Others made parodies imagining the scenario where a man chooses to wear a bracelet over eating stew. For example, user @KenTremendous^[5] posted a joke wherein his wife leaves him for choosing a bracelet over stew, gaining over 160 retweets and 5,400 likes (shown below, left). User @HarronWalker^[6] posted stock artwork of a sad woman, gaining over 360 likes (shown below, right). Jokes were covered by the Daily Dot.^[7]
