About
Sydney Sweeney is an American actress most famous for her role as Cassie in the HBO television show Euphoria. Images and videos of Sweeney playing Cassie became popularized in meme templates after 2022. Also that year, Sydney Sweeney's family received backlash from some online for purportedly being Trump and Blue Lives Matter supporters after images of her mom's birthday where people wore MAGA-like hats and Thin Blue Line shirts went viral. In 2023, rumors began to circulate about Sweeney and co-star Glenn Powell's relationship, with fans making memes about the actors' chemistry and their respective partners.
Career
Sydney Sweeney began her career as an actress on Netflix Series Everything Sucks! and as a guest star on the HBO series Sharp Objects. She also held a recurring role in The Handmaid's Tale and made an appearance in the Tarantino film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.[1]
Sweeney broke through to mainstream fame after her role as Cassie in the HBO series Euphoria in June 2019. She also went on to star in season one of the HBO show The White Lotus.

On July 21st, 2020, Twitter[2] user @MlLFISM posted an image of a balloon that resembles a breast alongside a caption that read, "sydney sweeneyβs titties watching everyone tweet about them," gathering over 37,000 likes in two years (seen below, left). Also on June 21st, Twitter[3] user @michaelbluthsgf posted a tweet with a caption that read, "sydney sweeney trending just for being hot," gathering over 28,000 likes in two years (seen below, right).
On December 8th, 2021, Sweeney posted a video promoting a Call of Duty game that made it appear as though she was on the battlefield herself, accumulating over 1.5 million views in roughly a year (seen below).[4]

Role As Cassie
Sweeney's role as Cassie in Euphoria was a prominent topic in meme culture in 2022, with images and clips of her crying often being used on Twitter as reaction memes. Other memes commented on her character's infatuation with her on-screen partner Nate. On April 4th, 2021, Sweeney noted that her favorite Cassie meme was a screengrab of the dialogue "I Have Never, Ever Been Happier" (examples seen below).[5][6]
A scene featuring Sweeney as Cassie crying in the mirror also became a prevalent reaction meme in 2022 (examples seen below).[7]

Sydney Sweeney Pro-Trump Accusations
In 2022, Sydney Sweeney was accused by some online of purportedly harboring pro-Trump sentiments during a controversy. On August 27th, 2022, Sweeney uploaded a carousel post to Instagram[9] of photos and videos from her mother Lisa Sweeney's 60th birthday party. Over the course of two days, the post received roughly 2.2 million likes. Roughly three hours after her post, Twitter[10] user exposedxbihh tweeted a screenshot of Sweeney's last photo, zooming in on the man, supposedly her father, in the photo wearing a Thin Blue Line T-shirt and captioning it, "Girl @sydney_sweeney." In two days, the post received roughly 18,700 likes (shown below, left).
Later on August 27th, Twitter[11] user vespervievv tweeted screenshots taken from Sydney Sweeney's brother Trent's Instagram (@trent_sweeneyy) in which people at the party were wearing MAGA-like hats that read, "Make Sixty Great Again." Vespervievv claimed in their tweet how "Sydney Sweeney carefully curated her IG post so that none of the MAGA-inspired hats were seen and then her dimwitted brotherβs post blew it all up." The tweet received roughly 17,000 likes in two days (shown below, right). Trent Sweeney then deleted the Instagram post on the morning of August 29th.
As the backlash against Sweeney accumulated on social media from some, she posted a tweet[12] on the evening of August 27th that read, "You guys this is wild. An innocent celebration for my moms milestone 60th birthday has turned into an absurd political statement, which was not the intention. Please stop making assumptions. Much love to everyone β₯οΈ and Happy Birthday Mom!" Over the course of two days, the tweet received roughly 117,200 likes (shown below).
Rumored Relationship With Co-Star Glenn Powell
In 2023, rumors about Sydney Sweeney's relationship with her costar in an upcoming romantic comedy began to swirl on social media. Sweeney was engaged at the time to her longtime restauranteur boyfriend Jonathan Davino[13] and Powell was dating model Gigi Paris.
On April 23rd, 2023, Twitter[14] user @valleydoIl quote tweeted a video of the two actors on set saying, "I support them but if I was his gf Iβd literally kms in front of them," gathering over 50,000 likes in three days (seen below). On April 24th, Pop Base noted that Powell's girlfriend had unfollowed Sweeney on social media.[15]

Cassie Hiding In Bathtub, also known as Me When The Doordash Person Knocks, refers to an exploitable image macro of the character Cassie from Euphoria hiding in a tub, curtain drawn, with her hand over her mouth to keep herself quiet as if scared of someone approaching. The image was posted to Twitter in January 2022 along with a caption about hiding from a Doordash delivery driver, becoming the subject of similar, ironically captioned memes over the following days.
