Muppet Necking is an internet slang term meaning to simultaneously perform oral sex while using one's hands. After appearing on Urban Dictionary, the term was popularized during a stream of the game Cards Against Humanity by YouTube channel Mini Ladd which featured the card.

Origin

On April 7th, 2015, Urban Dictionary user Cantalopian^[1] uploaded the definition of "Muppet Necking" to the site (shown below).

Spread

The term was popularized three weeks later, when the term was included on a Cards Against Humanity card during an April 29th, 2015 stream of the game posted on YouTube channel Mini Ladd, gaining over 1.5 million views (shown below, left). The stream featured YouTubers including SeaNanners, DAITHI DE NOGLA, and Chilled Chaos. On April 30th, the clip was posted to SeaNanners channel, gaining over 1.6 million views (shown below, right).

After the videos grew popular, the term saw some use online in various threads about sex with Muppets. For example, a Reddit about the topic saw "Muppet Necking" used to define the act.^[2] A similar thread appeared on the 4chan board /s4s/ on July 26th, 2016.^[3] The term was popularized again when it was included in another Cards Against Humanity stream by Mini Ladd on April 21st, 2018, gaining over 682,000 views (shown below).

Alternative Definition

An alternative definition of the term originated in a Rooster Teeth video on February 13th, 2015, where Ryan Haywood said "Muppet Neck" was a dance move used by "White boys at the disco." However, this definition is not as popular as the sexual one.

This clip did see some spread in Tumblr jokes. A still of the scene posted by oceanofbliss gained over 170 notes (shown below, left). User unorthodoxymoron posted a screenshot of an Urban Dictionary definition referencing the scene, gaining 230 notes (shown below, right).
