My Day Be So Fine, Then Boom refers to a series of snowclone memes in which various characters describe their pleasant day being ruined by various events. Originating from a viral meme based on an image of Clone High character JFK, the format gained a notable presence on Twitter in mid-September 2020.
Origin
On September 6th, Twitter[1] user @datonestarfox2 posted a two-panel meme based on edited still frames of Clone Highcharacter JFK sitting on the Casting Couch, captioned "My day be so fine, then boom, mental illness." The line does not appear in the Clone High series. The post (shown below) received over 13,500 retweets and 53,500 likes in one week.
Spread
The format did not see viral spread until September 9th, 2020, when Twitter[2][3] users @ALLTHATGLITTERS and @tacoswitchasix posted the first known derivatives of the snowclone (shown below, left and right), with the posts accumulating over 800 retweets and 2,900 likes and 8,800 retweets and 40,600 likes in one week.
In the following days, the two-panel snowclone format in which various characters described their pleasant day being ruined by various events or people gained popularity on Twitter. For example, on September 10th, 2020, Twitter[4] user @datonestarfox2 tweeted a joke about Cacodemon saying the phrase, with Twitter[5] user @Year2ThousandK posting a meme based on the joke (shown below).
