My Way or the Highway TikToks refers to a series of TikTok lip-sync videos in which the TikToker lip-syncs "and if you call me a bitch, make sure you put baddest in front of it" typically directing it towards a parent or an authority figure. The videos, which became popular in May 2020, use a mashup of rapper Trina's 2017 Instagram^[3] live rant and Queen Key's 2018 song "My Way."^[2]

Origin

On March 30th, 2020, TikToker @jerryyy.jones uploaded the first known lip-sync of the sound clip "original sound – .taylorsprivate" (shown below). The video gained over 76,300 likes in two months.

Spread

On May 11th, 2020, popular TikToker @addisonre uploaded a lip-sync video using the sound and garnered over 1.7 million likes in 16 days (shown below, left). On May 16th, TikToker @bigwinnn1 lip-ynced towards his older relative and promptly got hit in a video that received over 1.6 million likes in 11 days (shown below, center). On May 21st, TikToker @emiliobernot uploaded another lip-sync that gained over 2.2 million likes in six days (shown below, right). Stay Hipp^[1] published an article explaining the trend.
