#My4WordCauseOfDeath is a Twitter hashtag in which people tweet four words explaining how they will die that trended in late October of 2017.
Origin
On October 30th, 2017, Twitter account @CrashTagsFun[1] tweeted out the hashtag game, gaining 42 retweets and 66 likes (shown below).
Spread
Over the following two days, hundreds of Twitter users played the hashtag game, causing the hashtag to trend globally.[2] Most of the the tweets involved minor causes of death. For example, one of the most popular tweets, posted by @writerlike1[3] used the words "Stepped on a lego," gaining over 290 retweets (shown below, left). A tweet by @alsoANGRYref[4] referenced Hold My Beer and gained over 110 retweets (shown below, right). The hashtag was covered by EatPrayVote blog.[5]
