Never Letting X Record Again also known as 'Hooray Is Crazy' refers to a sound effect where the person recording the video appears to say "hooray!" in reaction to something. The sound effect went viral on TikTok in late 2022, and was used to post sports clips alongside the text overlay format, "never letting x record again." The sound effect is used in a manner similar to the stroke that thing cuzzo, and ignore my dad/yawn trends.

Origin

On December 18th, 2022, TikToker^[1] @jakeybuckets posted a video of him playing basketball where someone out of the frame can be heard saying "hooray," after a basket was shot. The video gathered over 900,000 plays and 150,000 likes in ten days and was re-uploaded ^[2] on December 21st, gathering over 2 million plays and 120,000 likes in less than a week (seen below).

Spread

The sound effect soon began being used in various other videos, with the earliest known variant appearing on TikToker^[3] @dil.the.don's page on December 22nd, 2022, where it gathered over 4.1 million plays and 640,000 likes in five days (seen below, left). On December 23rd, 2022, TikToker^[4] @stassy2steezy posted a video alongside the caption "never letting grandma film again bro," gathering nearly 1 million plays and 60,000 likes in four days (seen below, right).

Also on December 23rd, TikToker^[5] @liltimm_ posted a video with the caption "never letting a white friend record the dunk again," gathering over 22 million plays and 4 million likes in four days (seen below, left). On the same date, TikToker^[6] @ericcc.fr posted a video with the caption, "never letting my grandma film again bro," gathering over 2.6 million plays and 300,000 likes in four days (seen below, right).
