About
"Not Bad, Kid" is a memorable quote uttered by the character Peter Parker in the film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Online, people have used a screen capture from the scene to express agreement and pride in another's accomplishments, both sincerely and sarcastically.
Origin
On December 14th, 2018, the film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was released in the United States. Towards the film's conclusion, when characters Peter Parker and Miles Morales (voiced by Jake Johnson and Shameik Moore) open a portal to another dimension, Parker enters the portal and says the line to Morales.[1]
On February 26th, 2019, ticketing website Fandango's movie clips YouTube channel posted the clip on the website. The post received more than 1.4 million views in two months (shown below).
Spread
On March 15th DeviantArt [2] user SUP-FAN posted a screenshot of the scene (shown below, left).
The following month, on April 19th, Redditor [3] Allonsy_11 posted the screenshot with the caption "When you use your younger sibling's phone and see two calculators." The post received more than 4,900 points (98% upvoted) and 80 comments (shown below, center).
Several days later, on April 25th, Redditor[4] FlubbyPuppy posted a variation with the caption "When you use your little brother's laptop and you see Minecraft instead of Fortnite. The post received more than 24,000 points (95% upvoted) and 110 comments in four days (shown below, right).
