Alec Castillo (born 1996 in Maine, United States)[1], better known by his YouTube username and Twitch handle Acai, is an American YouTube personality, Twitch streamer, eSports champion, and musician. Recently, Castillo has achieved notoriety for his Twitch streams and YouTube channel in which he records himself playing custom song charts on Clone Hero, a PC rhythm game modelled off of the Guitar Hero series. His Youtube channel has amassed over 720,000 subscribers and 150,000,000 views in twelve years. His Twitch channel currently has over 130,000 followers.

Origin

Castillo created his YouTube channel, then called "Gamerboy28", on October 22nd, 2007[2]. On May 29th, 2008, he uploaded his first video (shown below), which received 13,000 views and 360 likes in eleven years.[3]

Spread

In 2010, Castillo came first place in the Guitar Hero: World Tour contest at the 2010 World Cyber Games in Los Angeles.[4]

In 2015, Castillo created a Twitch account [5], as well as a SoundCloud account, to which he uploads original compositions and covers.[6]

In 2018, Castillo's popularity skyrocketed due to clips from his custom Clone Hero chart Twitch live streams being uploaded to his YouTube channel. Two particularly notable examples would be "poopity scoop", which garnered over 6,500,000 views and 120,000 likes in eight months, and "SICKO MODE but I don't think I got the right version", which received over 11,000,000 views and 350,000 likes in two months.[7][8]
