About
Big Bang is a South Korean K-pop group and boy band currently consisting of Kwon "G-Dragon" Ji-Yong, Choi "T.O.P." Seung-hyun, Dong "Taeyang" Young-bae, and Kang "Daesung" Dae-sung. Formed in 2006 by YG Entertainment and originally a five-member group with Lee "Seungri" Seung-hyun before his retirement in 2019, they would become one of the best-selling K-pop groups of all times before BTS, along with hit songs such as "Fantastic Baby" and "Bang Bang Bang".

Hiatus
Starting in 2017 and 2018, the members would enlist for 2 years of mandatory military service as per South Korean law. T.O.P. would enter service on February 9th, 2017. The following members would enlist in 2018, starting with G-Dragon on February 27th, followed by Taeyang and Daesung on March 12th and 13th respectively. Seungri was planned to enlist on March 25th, 2019. Prior to enlistment, the group released the song "Flower Road" as a thank-you for their fans before their enlistment. The single would be Seungri's final involvement with the group and the greater music industry as a whole due to his involvement in the Burning Sun scandal in 2019.
Return
In late 2019, the remaining members of Big Bang had finished their military service and would officially announce a contract renewal with their label YG in 2020. The group was originally meant to perform at Coachella in 2020 along with having a promotional campaign for their comeback, though this was delayed and their Coachella performance cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
